Digital Engagement Advisor - Newcastle
Actualise Design is seeking an experienced Digital Engagement Advisor to join our project team in Newcastle. This role is central to a government-initiated project, where digital platforms serve as the primary bridge between the government and the community.
Part-time embedded role, required in-person in Newcastle, NSW.
About the Role
You will be responsible for developing and delivering a digital engagement strategy that aligns with leading industry practices. Embedded directly within a multidisciplinary government team, you will manage digital channels and provide strategic advice to ensure project milestones are met through effective, transparent, and accessible digital communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Design and execute a comprehensive digital engagement strategy tailored for major projects and sensitive political environments.
- Platform Management: Oversee all digital engagement platforms, tools, and channels (e.g. project websites, consultation portals, and social media).
- Strategic Advisory: Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on how to best reach and involve communities, stakeholders, and diverse audiences through digital means.
- Content Design: Create UX-aligned digital content that translates complex technical data into engaging, user-friendly experiences.
- Data and Insights: Monitor and analyse digital metrics, sentiment trends, and participation data to refine engagement tactics and report on reach.
Required Skills and Experience
- Sector Experience: Demonstrated experience in digital engagement specifically for government, or large-scale public programs.
- Navigating Complexity: Proven ability to operate effectively within regulatory, multidisciplinary, and politically sensitive environments.
- Digital Proficiency: Hands-on experience with online consultation tools, analytics dashboards, and modern digital engagement platforms.
- Information Synthesis: A strong ability to convert technical, engineering, or planning information into clear and engaging digital narratives.
- Analytical Mindset: Skilled in monitoring digital sentiment and participation trends to provide actionable reporting.
Bonus Skills
- Technical Integration: Experience with GIS-linked engagement tools or interactive mapping.
- Community Management: Expertise in managing high-volume public comments and moderating complex community discussions online.
