Graphic Designer - Newcastle

Actualise Design is seeking multiple experienced and highly skilled Graphic Designers to join our team in Newcastle. These roles are critical to the success of a government-initiated project, where visual communication is essential for stakeholder engagement, planning processes, and public understanding.

Full-time embedded role, required in-person in Newcastle, NSW.
Multiple positions available.

About the Role

You will be embedded directly within the government organisation’s team, working at the heart of the project to translate complex planning data into compelling, accessible visual stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Collateral: Develop high-quality public-facing materials including fact sheets, infographics, brochures, newsletters, and event displays.
  • Technical Visualisation: Produce high-fidelity maps, cross-sections, design diagrams, and planning graphics that adhere to strict accuracy standards.
  • Campaign Development: Create visual concepts for project storytelling and community engagement campaigns across multiple formats.
  • Digital Excellence: Design assets for web, social media, and email platforms, ensuring all outputs meet government branding and web accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Reporting and Documentation: Develop visual content for technical reports, environmental/planning documentation, and ministerial materials.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Complex Information Design: A proven ability to simplify complex technical information into clear, engaging visual formats.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and relevant industry software.
  • Branding and Compliance: Experience working within branding guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Detail Oriented: Exceptional accuracy and consistency across all technical and visual outputs.
  • Communication: Fluent in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow team members.

Bonus Skills

  • Motion and Innovation: Ability to create animated graphics and support the production of interactive visuals, including GIS-linked or 3D-enabled graphics.
